Gerald D. Kooser, 64, passed away unexpectedly at his home July 19. He was born in Medford, OR on September 30, 1950 to Eugene and Geraldine Kooser but spend most of his life in Houston. He is survived by his wife of 33 years Becky, children Erin (Steven), Tyler (Katelyn), and Kelly, and granddaughter Cameron, all residing in Houston, TX. Gerald is also survived by brothers Bob and Don Kooser. He worked his entire life in sales to provide for his family.

Gerald was a major sports fan but nothing compared to the joy he got from watching his own children play. Whether it was softball, baseball, volleyball or football Gerald never missed a game and you would often find him at practice. If you were at one of the Kooser’s games you were sure to hear his voice shouting out words of encouragement. Gerald also had a passion for hunting and boating. He was happiest when he was out on the water with Becky and the kids. Whether it was food, or love, he always made sure everyone was taken care of.

The Kooser family will be present to receive friends Friday, July 24, 2015 from 11:00 AM until 1:00 PM at Dettling Funeral Home, 14094 Memorial Drive, Houston, TX 77079. A Funeral Service will be held that same day at 1:00 PM following visitation. A reception will follow the service in the Grand Room. The family suggests in lieu of flowers, contributions in Gerald’s memory be made to the Houston Food Bank, www.houstonfoodbank.org.
